This is new pre-consumer recycled cotton knit fabric (NOT old socks!). Millions of t-shirts produced each year leave tons of “table waste” – fabric left over after t-shirts are cut out. As the waste is turned back into yarn, it’s necessary to add back about 25% of another fiber. Since the yarn is not re-dyed, the fabric has a heathered effect from the many different colored t-shirts used to make it. Recycled cotton takes a bite out of the 5 billion pounds of textile waste generated each year, uses a fraction of the chemicals, energy and water, and costs less than conventional cotton fabric. It also costs less than virgin organic cotton.
This is a knit with small ribs and a slighly dry hand.
